Biographie infocusgalerie burkhard arnold

Thomas Hoepker, 1936 in München geboren, lebt seit 1976 in New York City.
Als Student der Kunstgeschichte und Archäologie errang Hoepker erste Auszeichnungen beim
Wettbewerb „Jugend fotografiert“ auf der Photokina. So war die Laufbahn vorgezeichnet und er
begann nach dem Studium in München regelmäßig für Zeitschriften zu arbeiten. Von 1964 an war
Hoepker als Fotoreporter u. a. für den „Stern“ tätig. Seit 1989 ist er Vollmitglied der legendären
Agentur Magnum Photos, von 2003 bis 2007 war er ihr Präsident. Hoepkers Bilder, engagiert und der
Wahrheit verpflichtet, aber nie voyeuristisch oder verletzend, stehen für ungeschönte
Dokumentarfotografie.
