Max Misselbeck, curator of Scholl foundation Cologne,
will introduce to Kellners new series.
Thomas Kellner's "Half-Timbered Houses of the Siegen Industrial Area Today" are timeless images of culture and society in the Siegerland region. These photographs are an allusion to the work of the two internationally renowned photographers Bernd and Hilla Becher, who also photographed these half-timbered houses 50 years ago. In 2021, Thomas Kellner continued their legacy in a series of architectural photographs of half-timbered houses in their present state. The subtle coloring, focus on detail, and blurred background make his photographs appear as works in their own right, but also parallel to their original inspiration.
The exhibition is complemented by a selection of Kellner's famous meticulously planned contact tableaux.
